Debbi has lived in Chicago her whole life, and has in-depth knowledge of the Chicago real estate market. She primarily works within the Lake View, Gold Coast, and Lincoln Park neighborhoods, and prides herself on the high-level of service she offers all of her clients from start to finish.
What was the reason you decided to get into real estate?
“Growing up, my parents would take us on a neighborhood walk every night after dinner. My favorite part was looking through the windows of other people’s homes to get a peek inside! And, from my very first job, I have always been focused on customer service. Real Estate allows me to still peek inside other’s home’s and take care of my clients at the same time.”
When you’re not busy showing homes and negotiating offers, what extracurricular activity or hobby consumes your time?
“When not working, you can find me grocery shopping! I love to wander the aisles of ANY kind of food store, from Joong Boo Asian Market, to Devon Market for Indian ingredients, to Eataly for the freshest Italian ingredients. Feeding my friends and family brings me as much joy as the process of shopping and cooking the meal.”
What Chicago neighborhood or hot spot are you most likely to be spotted in after a long day of work?
“Location, location, location! My home is located in Southport Corridor, and that is exactly where you can find me after a long day of work. I am a big believer in searching not only for your perfect home, but making sure it is located in the neighborhood where you plan to live your day-to-day life.”
What’s the one thing you’re sure to recommend doing/seeing in Chicago when out-of-state friends/family come to visit?
“When you come to Chicago and you are craving a comprehensive overview of the city, I think no one does it better than the Chicago Architecture Foundation. While they offer many tour options, I am a big fan of the Chicago River cruises, as well as any of their walking tours in our fine city.”
What makes you different from other real estate agents?
“Listening between the lines. Though you may not always be able to put into words what you want in a home, I think I am able to listen to the feeling you are trying to evoke in your new home and we can search together from that perspective.”
Do you specialize in any particular type of real estate or specific type of deal?
“Though all my clients are fantastic, first-time buyers hold a special place in my heart. I get so caught up in their passion and enthusiasm! I am so, so proud of those that have saved for years to accomplish their dream of home ownership and really love helping guide them in the process.”
How do you leverage technology to help you be one of the best in the industry?
“I don’t. Real Estate is a relationship business. While I can get every piece of marketing and paperwork done on my smartphone, I believe a personal connection will always be the most important piece.”
Tell us the most unique or interesting home you’ve ever shown.
“My favorite pocket listing I have right now is a converted Chicago firehouse in Lincoln Square. This single family home kept lots of fire-engine red in the home and even left the stalls in one of the bathrooms so the kids wouldn’t fight over needing to use the facilities.”
Any “bloopers” during showings that you’re willing to share?
“Let’s just say you should always remember the owners may have left on the nanny-cam!”
